Section 3 Guidelines

As a non-profit community development organization, we provide affordable housing solutions from a diverse portfolio of funding options, to, at times include options supported from our federal government.

 

United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

NeighborWorks® Boise makes an effort, whenever possible, to contract with a qualified Section 3 contractor for each of our projects.  A qualified Section 3 company consists of 51% or more of it’s employees are making below 80%  Average Median Income (AMI). In Boise, for example, a household size of 1 making 80% AMI would be grossing $42,200 per year or less.

Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968

(12 U.S.C. 1701u), as amended, requires that when new jobs or contracts are created as a result of the usage of certain HUD funds (including Public and Indian Housing funds), priority consideration is given, to the greatest extent feasible, to low- and very low-income persons residing in the community in which the funds are spent and to businesses that provide economic opportunities for these persons.
