Paint The Town has never just been about the paint.  It’s about families…neighbors…people…community. A coat of paint can brighten a home and make it look new again, but the real heart of the program is brightening the lives of our neighbors in need.  Neighbors just like Janis, who had the joy of seeing her home transformed by the Intermountain Gas / US Bank team.

Like many of the Paint The Town teams, Intermountain Gas and US Bank paired up to go above and beyond for Janis’s home.  Not only did they paint the home, they also did gutter repairs and painted a metal awning in her backyard.  Additionally, they noticed that her landscaping could use some help.  They found out that Janis had tried to rock-scape her front lawn years ago but didn’t put down weed barrier, or enough rock, and it had sadly turned into a weed garden.  She couldn’t even mow because of the rock underneath!

Luckily her team was up to the task and dug out the old rock, weeds and dirt! They also removed a big tree stump that had blown over years ago and a wood privacy wall that was falling down.  They then sprayed the front yard with sterilizer, laid weed barrier and spread new rock.  What a transformation!

before and after

After seeing her completed home, Janis exclaimed, “I had the worst house in the neighborhood and now it’s a showplace!  What a fantastic place Boise is with so many caring people.”

The 34th Paint The Town has wrapped up with 49 similar transformations thanks to an incredible amount of volunteers, donors and sponsors.  It takes a caring community to continue these neighborhood revitalization projects year after year.  Thank you for your contributions!
